(Not so) Happy 4th of July!!!

Our 4th of July started out fine... but quickly went downhill. Bailey was set to Rodeo in Plymouth so we headed up to watch.

Checking out the bulls....."which one will we ride do ya think?"

Bailey's turn! He's getting "tied on".....

Honestly, how cute is that? Look at proud papa looking on.

Here's Bailey's first ride. (Press Play) He was
kind of upset that his bull wasn't buckin' very much.
He tried to spur it to get it doing, then he gave up.
He took 4th place on this ride!

This is his 2nd ride. If you watch carefully you
can see the bull step on his stomach. It ripped his
belt buckle off. You can see one of the guys showing
him the "hoof print" on his buckle.

What I didn't get on camera, is that after he stood up he turned to me and gave me his "Lane Frost" wave. So cute!!!!! I love this kid!!!!

He walked over to the chutes by his dad and started taking off his chaps. He got as white as a ghost. I could see from where I was sitting that his face had no color, and I knew he was about to pass out. He kept leaning his head on his mom's shoulder, and within a few seconds he passed out COLD!!! Jason started screaming for a medic, threw him over his shoulder, and ran for the ambulance. In the midst of his dead run, Jason managed to smack unconscious Bailey's head on the gate. (Ouch) They threw him in the ambulance and headed into town. They were worried that he may have internal bleeding.

Once in town, the hospital decided they better be safe and life flight him to Primary Children's. There was a blood clot in his stomach very near an artery that runs from your leg to your heart. They didn't want to take any chance that this artery was compromised, and wanted to be sure they had the right docs in case there was a problem. So, we waited for Life Flight, and joked that Bailey would not be allowed to ride anymore. He wouldn't stand for that. He was hoping to be back in time for his 7:00 rodeo.

Life Flight arrived, and Bailey asked for some pics so he could prove to his buddies his stories were true.

He made it to Primary Children's, and the docs looked him over, ran some tests, and said he was a pretty lucky boy. If it would have been 1/4 of an inch one way it would have crushed that main artery. If it would have been 1/4 of an inch the other way it would have crushed his kidney. They kept him overnight, just to monitor him, but he's okay. They told him to take it easy for a month or so, and he should be back to normal.

He's ready to ride again, but I'm not so sure I can be a rodeo momma. I'm going to teach him to play the piano instead. I told him he could wear his hat and vest if he wanted to. :)

WE LOVE YOU BAILEY and we are so glad you are okay!!!!

Thank you everyone for your calls and visits!

P.S. Some of you have gently reminded me that we don't have such good luck on the 4th of July. (Last 4th of July was also spent in the hospital...Jason had to have an emergency appendectomy.) Next year we will be wrapped in bubble wrap, sitting on our couch, waiting for the clock to chime midnight.

LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

So scarry!!!!! I'm glad he's OK! I agree you guys need to just stay indoors on the 4th! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you got married on Friday the 13th! You just cursed yourselves! :) Love you Baily!

WOW!!! What a way to spend the 4th! What hospital did he fly out of? If it was Bear River, now I can say I've known someone who flew over my house in life flight! It comes and goes so often! I'm so glad he's ok. I've thought it has been kinda quite around your house latey. What an excited day in the Soto family!!!

Wow, that is quite the 4th of July experience. I'm so glad to hear that everything turned out ok. At the very least, he'll have a crazy and wild story to tell is friends!

I am so glad we are in the roping part of rodeos, not sure what I will say when my boys want to ride those big beasts!! Hopefully they will stay on the roping side of it too! Glad he is okay, he was definetely blessed that day!
